How to write an internship resume
An internship resume should make three answers easy to find: what you study, what you have practised and when you can start. It does not need to pretend that work experience already exists.

In this guide
1. What should an internship resume prove?
It should show that your education connects to the field, that you have practised some tasks or tools and that you understand the internship’s purpose. Availability should also be clear when the advert asks for dates or hours.
2. How do you write the summary for an internship?
In two or three lines, name your course, where you are in it, one or two skills you have practised and the internship field you want. Avoid opening with “no experience”.
Says little
«Student looking for an opportunity to learn and grow.»
Says more
«Second-year Marketing student with academic practice in market research and content creation. Looking for an internship in digital communication.»
Why: The second version gives the course, stage, work already practised and the field sought.
Structure to adapt
Student in [course and year], with practice in [tool or task] through [project or subject]. Looking for an internship in [field], available from [confirmed date].
3. How should you present your education?
Put education before experience when it is your strongest evidence. Give the course, institution, expected completion and, only when they help that job, relevant subjects, projects or grades.
Short courses and certifications belong when they show a requested skill. Listing every course takes space without improving the application.
4. How do you turn academic projects into experience?
Give each project a name, context and date. Then explain your contribution, the tools used and the delivered result. In group work, distinguish what you did from what the team did.
Each project should answer
- What was the problem or goal?
- What was your responsibility?
- Which tools or methods did you use?
- What was completed in the end?
- Is there a working public link?
- Can you explain the decisions in an interview?

2025
- Organised material records and searches.
- Added validation rules to reduce input errors.
- Presented the result and applied the feedback received.
5. Should jobs outside the field be included?
Yes, when they show useful responsibility: keeping schedules, serving people, organising requests, working safely or collaborating in a team. Describe the facts and do not present the job as technical experience it was not.
6. What should you check before applying?
Before you send it
- The course, institution and expected completion are correct.
- The internship field sought appears in the summary.
- The projects state what your contribution was.
- Availability is confirmed, not estimated.
- Links to work or a portfolio open correctly.
- The resume has no empty sections.
